Abrasive
wheels need to be used with some degree of
safety precautions in place. You should always
make sure that you choose the right wheel for
the job that you’re doing. This is very
important for your own safety. A wheel that hasn’t
been designed for a job that you’re asking
it to do can be very dangerous. When you buy
your wheels make sure that you find out from
the manufacturer what the abrasive wheels can
and cannot be used for.
Make
sure that you’re
only using wheels that have been specifically
marked showing the type of wheel and the speed
in rpm (revolutions per minute) that you’re
using so that you can be sure you’re using
the right one. When you buy your wheel make sure
that you have bought the right one before taking
it home to use. You should also check it over
carefully to make sure that it doesn’t
have any damage to it. You can use what is known
as a ring test to do another check on it. Keep
in mind that this test can only be performed
on larger sized wheels.
Abrasive wheel
The
abrasive wheel needs to be handled very carefully.
Make sure that you never bump or drop it on
the ground. If you need to move them to another
location always make sure that you transport
them in containers that have been provided, in
particular the ones they came in. Never put any
other materials or tools on top of them since
this can cause stress and damage. When storing
them make sure to put them into compartments
that have dividers so that they don’t rub
up against each other. They should be stored
in a room with temperatures that aren’t
too hot or too cold. And there should never be
any moisture in the air or any oil where they
are being stored since this can also cause damage.
You’ll
find that the more care that you take with
your purchase the longer they will last. Although
not an expensive purchase it’s
still not one that you want to be making on a
regular basis due to not taking care of them.
There are many uses in your workshop for abrasive
wheels.
